Fan tickets for the India launch event of OnePlus 6 went live this morning at 10:00 am and over 1,500 tickets were sold out within a span of four minutes.
The smartphone will be introduced globally on May 16, followed by a separate India launch on May 17. The launch event in India will be organised at Mumbai’s NSCI Dome.
For the Mumbai event, tickets were purchased by community members from all over India, including Ujjain, Allahabad and Coonoor and cities like Bangalore and Delhi.
After the official launch, the smartphone will be exclusively available on Amazon India from May 21 for Prime members only. Till date, more than a million people have expressed interest in the OnePlus 6 by registering on ‘Notify Me’ on Amazon.in, making it the fastest OnePlus smartphone to surpass the one-million mark.
Several teasers from the company and online leaks have confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will boast of an octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz. The handset will run on Android 8.0 Oreo and will feature a 6.2-inch Super Amoled FHD+ (1080x2280 pixels) resolution screen. It is also expected to feature a 20MP+16MP rear camera setup along with a 16MP front facing camera.
Features confirmed for OnePlus 6 include nearly same back panel design as the OnePlus 5T, iPhone X-like gesture controls, Alert Slider’s integration in the camera, ‘Notch’ above the display, 3.5mm headphone jack inclusion, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and IP68 water resistance.Other speculations suggest OnePlus 6 to feature a 256GB inbuilt storage variant.
